The developers’ words
In the official Early Access FAQ, the question “Will Emberville have co-op?” gets the answer: “Yes! Co-op multiplayer is planned for the 1.0 release. Early Access launches as a single-player experience.” The same post lists co-op next to modding support and console releases as the big 1.0 additions, and says the team will communicate progress and any changes as development moves forward. Steam’s feature list for the game currently shows Single-player and no online or local multiplayer tags. Official
What this means if you want to play with friends
- Early Access (from January 7, 2027) is a solo experience. There is no drop-in co-op to wait for at launch.
- Systems built for solo play now — your estate, class progression — will need multiplayer rules later; the developers haven’t said how shared towns or saves will work.
- The game is listed with Steam Family Sharing, so a household can share one copy, but that is not multiplayer. Official
