The Vitromotus: map, biomes & bosses

Every run starts in the dark. The Vitromotus is the prison you wake up in, the dungeon you fight through, and the mystery the story keeps circling.

Wiki Verified Applies to Demo Prologue / preview builds (Sep–Oct 2026)

The Vitromotus is an endless magical prison and Emberville’s dungeon. It holds tunnels, ruins, survivor settlements and biomes reshaped by kymia. Early Access includes the first of nine planned biomes. Official Dev

What the prison is

It was “intended as a magical confinement for the unwanted elements of a once great society,” and now stands as “a testament to their arrogance and corruption.” You can try to escape it and, if you choose, help those left behind. Official The developers shared lore art of the Vitromotus back in November 2023. Dev

Exploring it

  • Explore forgotten tunnels, ruins, survivor settlements and threatening environments. Official
  • Doors must be opened or broken before the room behind them is revealed. A room may hold a swarm of enemies or nothing of value. Press
  • Side rooms and tougher enemies drop gear. Press
  • Dungeon layouts are procedurally generated and change between runs, and objects can be smashed for loot. Press
  • Kymia has created “strange biomes and bizarre monsters,” and “not all of these creatures are as terrible as you imagine.” Official
  • Enemies get stronger the deeper you go. Official

Is there a map?

No official map exists, and a fixed one may never make sense: TV Pulse’s preview describes layouts that change between runs, with maps you earn through exploration rather than start with. Press Until Early Access, the most reliable “map” is the biome plan below.

Bosses and enemies

Spider Matriarch

The first boss in WayTooManyGames’ preview. She webs you and charges, and she regains health by eating from sacks around the arena. Destroying the sacks first makes the fight much easier, and dodging matters most here. Press TV Pulse describes the same fight as surprisingly challenging, with the boss feeding on webbed cocoons. Press

Demo 0.20.18 removed a boss corpse collider as a temporary fix, because players could get stuck in the boss nest. Dev

Rotgam, Fallen Hero of the Scavengers

Revealed in boss and monster concept art in November 2023, together with one of his Scavengers. Concept art may not match the final game. Dev

Other enemies

Bats and other monsters appear in the Prologue. Press The final boss of Biome 1 is not in the launch build; it is planned for the first Early Access update. Dev
