How to download and play the demo
- Open the demo store page. Go to the official Emberville Demo page on Steam (app 5355880), or the main Emberville page and press “Download Demo”.
- Install it. Click Download/Install. Steam adds “Emberville Demo” to your library. You need a 64-bit Windows 10 PC; an SSD is recommended.
- Create a character and world. Launch the demo, create your character (hair, beard, face and colors) and start a new world.
- Play the Prologue. The Prologue takes about 90 minutes on average. Your demo save will carry over into Early Access on January 7, 2027.

What you do in the Prologue
From the official description and hands-on previews of the same Prologue (preview builds may differ slightly from the public demo):
- Create a character and wake with clouded memories inside the Vitromotus. Official
- Fight through rooms whose doors you open or break, with directional dodging and readable enemy tells. Press
- Unlock your first class, the Wanderer, by talking to an old man, Adeos. Press Press
- Find weapons such as a bow and brass knuckles, and basic light armor. Press
- Gather herbs and mushrooms for survival experience. Press
- Face the first boss, which WayTooManyGames’ preview calls the Spider Matriarch. Press
- Use crafting stations (the demo patch notes fix crafting-station and crafted-item bugs). Dev

- Alpha Demo 0.20.17 (Oct 19): black-screen fix for some Windows setups, CJK language fixes, Palm Strike no longer stuns 100% of the time, death XP penalty calculation fixed. Dev
- Demo Alpha 0.20.18 (Oct 22): attack-rate calculation fix, controller menu fixes, a boss-nest stuck fix, new Armor Mastery icons, experimental keyboard-only menu navigation. Dev
