Emberville classes & skills

Emberville’s classes behave less like a locked choice and more like gear you level: switch whenever you want, and carry skills from one class into another.

Wiki Verified Applies to Demo Prologue / preview builds (Sep–Oct 2026)

Emberville’s classes can be changed at any time, level up individually as you use them, and can inherit active and passive skills from other classes you’ve learned. The first class is the Wanderer; no official full class list exists yet. Official Press

How the class system works

  • Unlocking: new classes open up “as you gain experience in battle and complete quests.” Official
  • Swapping: classes “can be changed at any time, each with its own distinctive gameplay and abilities.” Official
  • Inheritance: you “learn, choose and use different skills from a big range of combat classes that can inherit passive and active skills from other learnt classes.” Official
  • Leveling: each class levels on its own through use, like weapons and armor. Press Press
  • Skill slots: in the preview, higher class levels let you equip two active and two passive skills. Press
  • Skill tree: the Wanderer’s tree showed tiers of unlocks up to level 40. Press

In practice this means you’re not choosing a single “build” at the start. A useful mental model: a class is a skill source you level, and your loadout mixes skills from the classes you’ve leveled.

The Wanderer

The Wanderer is the first class, unlocked in the Prologue by talking to an old man who knows about the Vitromotus (named Adeos in CGMagazine’s preview). Press Press

A story beat tied to the class: in CGMagazine’s session, activating the Wanderer class reset Adeos’s memory of the player, part of the game’s memory-loss theme. Press See lore.

Other skills seen in patch notes

  • Palm Strike — has a chance to stun. Patch 0.20.17 fixed a bug that gave it a 100% stun chance. The notes don’t say which class or weapon it belongs to. Dev
  • The same patch fixed “a class skill description” without naming it. Dev

Which class names are confirmed?

Several unofficial sites publish class lists with names like Knight and Warlock, sometimes with descriptions. We found no developer post, store text or hands-on preview that names them, so we don’t list them as confirmed. If you have an official source, tell us via the about page.

Officially, the store page only promises a “wide selection of classes” and a “big range of combat classes.” Official Early Access will add a full biome of content, so expect more classes on January 7, 2027. Dev

Practical tips (from confirmed mechanics)

  • Because classes level through use, swap to a class you want to level and keep it equipped while you clear easy rooms.
  • Skills carry between learned classes, so leveling a second class early widens your options rather than resetting you.
  • Match your class to your weapon: the Wanderer’s Focus Strike is a punch, which pairs naturally with brass knuckles.

The only class confirmed in hands-on coverage is the Wanderer, the first class you unlock. The store page promises a “wide selection” and a “big range” of combat classes, but no official list has been published.

Can you change class in Emberville?

Yes. Classes can be changed at any time, each levels up individually as you use it, and classes can inherit active and passive skills from other classes you have learned.

Are Knight and Warlock classes in Emberville?

Some unofficial sites list them, but we found no developer post or hands-on preview that confirms Knight or Warlock as classes.

How many skills can you equip?

A WayTooManyGames preview reports that at higher class levels you can equip two active and two passive skills. This is from a preview build and may change.
