Town rebuilding, estate & crafting

Half of Emberville happens above ground. Every villager you rescue comes home, teaches you something, and helps put the town back together.

Wiki Verified Applies to Store description + Early Access plan (Oct 2026)

In Emberville you rescue villagers trapped in the Vitromotus, and they return to help rebuild their town, teach you gathering and crafting professions, give quests and rewards. You also build and decorate a personal estate. Official

Rebuilding the town

  • Rescue “an array of quaint characters”; they show gratitude with rewards and teachings. Official
  • Learn their trades, secrets and dreams while helping with their quests — and “if you dare, read their diaries while they are not looking.” Official
  • Help rebuild through “a large variety of gathering and crafting professions.” Official
  • As the town restores itself it becomes “a living hub shaped by your deeds.” Official
  • Town rebuilding is part of the Early Access launch build. Dev

The ruined town shows its history in detail: CGMagazine describes broken walls and floors, carpets and couch springs. Press

Your estate

You get a personal space inside Emberville. From the store page: Official

  • Craft anything you need for your trips into the Vitromotus there.
  • Customize it with buildings, furniture, plants and decorations.
  • Turn it into “a comfortable place to relax.”

Gathering and crafting

  • Gather “a myriad of unique materials” to forge combat equipment and make potions, food, tools and trinkets. Official
  • Crafting stations exist in the demo; patch 0.20.18 fixed a crafting-station bug and let you collect crafted items with the action button in the crafting menu. Dev
  • Cooking and crafting are masteries that level with use. Press See masteries.
  • Gathering herbs and mushrooms grants survival experience. Press

What isn’t detailed yet

  • A full list of villagers, professions or crafting recipes.
  • Whether there’s a dedicated farming system with seasons or crops. A preview mentions investing in property and farms as planned features. Press
  • Automation or production chains: no official source describes any, so this wiki doesn’t cover them.
  • How the estate will work in co-op at 1.0.

FAQ

Is Emberville like Stardew Valley?

Partly. Alongside action-RPG combat you rescue villagers, rebuild their town, learn gathering and crafting trades and decorate your own estate with buildings, furniture and plants. Combat in the Vitromotus is a much bigger part of the game than in a pure farming sim.

Can you farm in Emberville?

The store page lists plants among the things you can place on your estate, and a preview mentions farms as a planned feature, but a full farming system has not been detailed by the developers.

Is the town rebuilding in the demo?

The Prologue ends as you reach the ruined town. WayTooManyGames noted that its preview build had none of the life-sim and building features; the developers say town rebuilding is in Early Access.
